"Believe Once again" is a New Age and electronica-influenced pop song written by Delta Goodrem, Brian McFadden, Stuart Crichton and Tommy Lee James and Nigel Hove produced by Stuart Crichton and Marius de Vries for Goodrem'south third studio album Delta (2007). The single, released in Australia on eight December 2007,[1] features exclusive remixes and the unreleased B-side runway, "Fortune and Love".[2] The single was released to radio on 12 November 2007, although information technology had its premiere on commercial radio in late-October 2007.

Background [edit]

The song was written past Goodrem, McFadden, Stuart Crichton and Tommy Lee James merely after Christmas in 2006. On writing with fiancee McFadden, Goodrem said, "He is such a brilliant writer. I was intimidated by his talent, because we have really unlike writing styles." Goodrem states that the vocal brought about the focus the album needed when she stated, "The turning point came with the album's opening song 'Believe Again'. Before that I was feeling a little unsure well-nigh the direction of the new album. That vocal really turned things around for me in a lot of dissimilar ways." [three]

The song has been noted to be well-nigh overcoming life'southward obstacles.[4] Goodrem also stated that for her the song means a positive, uplifting shift in her writing manner.[v] Goodrem says virtually the song:

"The vocal closed the door to an era, subsequently years of struggling. I actually stopped writing songs afterwards recovering from cancer because I just needed to feel free from such artistic environment."

"Believe Again is about my constant perseverance. Information technology shows that you tin can overcome anything in life as long as y'all take a stiff belief in yourself", she explained.[6]

During Delta's special A Nighttime with Delta Goodrem, a fan asked the question "What song was your favourite to tape off the new album, Delta?", with Delta replying "Believe Again".

Due to overwhelming need for the remix used in Goodrem's AFI performance, the "Believe Once again" Diamond Cut Remix was released on the "You Will Only Break My Heart" EP released on the Australian iTunes Store.

Goodrem in the video for "Believe Again".

The video, shot in a warehouse in Sydney, was filmed in the week ending xx October by Paul J Varolo (Producer) and Michael Spiccia (Director), a friend of Goodrem.[5] In it, Goodrem plays dissimilar mystical characters including a water nymph virtually likely to be the Nymph of Springs Pegaeae, a crystal-covered, cavern dwelling Wiccan or Nymph and a heaven goddess swathed in navy satin, virtually likely Aušrinė, a Lithuanian heaven deity.

According to the Lord's day Herald newspaper, it is one of the almost expensive music videos to exist produced in recent years. When speaking exclusively near the video, Goodrem said: "At that place'due south flames and h2o – it's a real fantasy sequence, but information technology's quite dark. It'south not going to be a bright-looking clip." [7]

The video is the first to be released in Hard disk resolution in Australia.[five] The video has many special-effects, in full 109 shots according to the director, more than the boilerplate feature film.[v] Information technology took ii days to movie and six weeks to consummate the special effects. Art directors from Australia, America and Spain were included in the product of the video.[5]

The first shots from the video were incorporated into the album's tv set promotional commercial that has been broadcast nationally on commercial networks since the commencement of November, although these shots did not make it to the concluding edit of the video.

The video won the honor for "Best Video of the Yr" during the MTV Australia Awards of 2008. Goodrem accepted the laurels via satellite due to promotional commitments in the Usa at the time.
